One week ago we reported on the decision by Hadi ShrinersFest organizers to cancel the airshow portion of the 2015 event despite a planned appearance by the Blue Angels. Today it is being reported that Vectren Corporation, which is headquartered in Evansville where ShrinersFest takes place, has stepped forward to provide $50,000 of funding to put on the airshow after all. Vectren is an energy holding company in Indiana and Ohio and is also the long running title sponsor of the Vectren Dayton Airshow. Unlike Dayton, the support to ShrinersFest has been announced as a one time gift. Although the original cancellation specifically mentioned that the airshow would not be held in any future years, it remains to be seen whether this new development will affect those plans. Still, it is great to report that an airshow is finding such support in the community!
