The US Navy Blue Angels will provide the national anthem flyover at the beginning of Super Bowl 50 in San Francisco. The team has teased the appearance recently but uploaded the above image to their Facebook page tonight in an apparent confirmation of the rumor. It will not be a tremendously long trip for the Blues as they are currently in California for their winter training at NAF El Centro rather than their home base of NAS Pensacola in Florida. The game, featuring the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers, will take place at Levi’s Stadium on February 7th. Last year’s Super Bowl featured a flyover by the USAF Thunderbirds.
Make sure you tune in for the pregame festivities!

The Super Bowl last year was held at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

You’re right, of course. I was going from memory and skipped that one. Thanks!

Hopefully they will figure out before the game that the stadium is in SANTA CLARA not SAN FRANCISCO.

Saw one plane overfly the stadium (at altitude) at around 9:30 this morning. it then circled and landed at Moffett field. About 30 minutes later I heard a other jets which I assumed were Blue Angels on approach. Wish I knew which direction they would be coming in from – would make a neat photo. Guess I could just wait for a 50/50 chance shot.
