The Experimental Aircraft Association’s (EAA) annual AirVenture fly-in and airshow in Oshkosh, Wisconsin is always a huge gathering of vintage and modern aviation. This year is no exception, especially now with the news that the United States Air Force is planning on a composite flyover consisting of the B-1 Lancer, B-2 Spirit, and B-52 Stratofortress in one formation on Saturday, July 29!

According to the article, the Saturday parade of modern bombers will be followed by both B-29 Superfortresses “Fifi” and “Doc,” two B-17 Flying Fortresses, several B-25 Mitchells, the A-20 Havoc, and “more yet to be announced.” We couldn’t agree more with the statement “If 2017 is the year of the bomber, then Saturday is bomber day.”

The bomber bash will kick off with a flyover of the B-1 on Monday, July 24. The Lancer flies again on Wednesday, July 26, following the Doolittle Raid reenactment. The reenactment will feature more than a dozen B-25s in the air. A B-52 will also be on static display throughout the week.

Additionally, both B-29s will fly together on Friday to commemorate the aircraft type’s 75th anniversary. Notably, AirVenture will be the first time the only two flying Superfortresses have shared the skies together.
