The “Year of the Fighter” theme at this years EAA AirVenture airshow in Oshkosh, WI just got a boost with the addition of the US Air Force’s F-35 Lightning II Demonstration Team! The team announced the schedule update on social media today.

Before this update, EAA was already set to host the F-22 Raptor and F-16 Fighting Falcon Demonstration Teams through the full week-long event, July 22nd to the 28th. The F-35 was scheduled to fly in Milwaukee, just 75 miles away, on July 27th and 28th. Both the F-16 and F-22 planned to pull double duty in Oshkosh and Milwaukee during the weekend, joining the F-35 for a Heritage Flight each day.

Now, all three teams will be based in Oshkosh from Monday until later in the week (likely Friday), when the F-35 relocates to Milwaukee. The F-16 and F-22 are still scheduled to hit Milwaukee as well, which means that both shows will feature three of the four Air Force single-ship demonstration teams. The A-10 Thunderbolt II demo team will be in Colorado on July 27 and 28.

Unfortunately AirVenture does not have a full-size aerobatic box, so fans will not get to see the new fully aerobatic demonstration profile of the F-35. It will instead be limited to a mini-demo just like the F-16 and F-22, but it’s still a fantastic addition.
