Re: What's The Future Like For The RAF Red Arrows

One thing I forgot to add - the Integrated Review of Security, Defence, Development and Foreign Policy 2020 is currently in the works. This is the largest review of defence policy and spending in many decades, and could easily go one of two ways. On the one hand, the last 5 or so years have been a b...

Re: What's The Future Like For The RAF Red Arrows

Agreed on both points! Luckily for us, the UK government seems to have really grasped the Red Arrows' potential as a PR tool in recent years, with several big international tours to the US, China, Saudi Arabia etc. They fit well with the post-Brexit trend for big, flashy, innovation-based projects l...

Re: Duxford Airshows 2020

An interesting day at Duxford today, starting out with some rather horrible weather - just 6 degrees, wet and rather damp! Luckily, after a rather miserable two hours staking out my place on the crowdline, the weather abated just in time for the start of the flying display, and we even had some sun!...

Re: Duxford Airshows 2020

Cracking line up for tomorrow! Really going for quality over duration. A few cancellations, not all shown on the website, and equally a couple of additions, not all shown. The flying will be in a single 90 minute block, starting at 1pm, with the following running order: Radial trio: Beaver, Harvard,...

Re: ROKAF Black Eagles 2021

Such a tour is not practically possible. There's only one day seperating the end of RIAT from the start of MAKS. MAKS is preceded by several days of practices and media events. The two shows are at least a day of travelling apart, but I'm certain the Black Eagles would want to leave longer, in case ...

Re: Shuttleworth Collection Airshows 2020

Tomorrow's show cancelled due to weather: paddocks and taxiways are "sodden" and wind likely to put a stop to much of the flying.

Re: Shuttleworth Collection Airshows 2020

Yes... cue memories of The Gliding Centre's Bonfire Night air display last year. Cars getting bogged down in the mud, 8 hours of pyro prep in the cold, wind and rain, and then only half a show due to low cloud base. TGC also have a short strip of hard runway, without which I'm not certain there'd ha...

Re: Shuttleworth Collection Airshows 2020

New drive-in event added for Nov 7th - Fireworks Night with a flying display by Mark Jefferies. Strange to have a new event added within a couple of days of the Season Finale Airshow being cancelled.

Re: No more Flying Legends Airshows at Duxford

Flying Legends 2021 tentatively scheduled for the 10th-11th July, if they get a location sorted in time. Presumably they wouldn't have posted that if they weren't reasonably confident that a 2021 show is still possible - so that's great news! I'd expected it would take a year or two out, at least. h...
