I know logistically it'd be a nightmare but I always thought it'd be nice if shows could put up some of the statics to do some passes throughout the day. Nothing aerobatic...just takeoff, some flat or banana passes and land. It'd be a great photo opportunity for those not able to catch arrivals/departures.

I wonder what the difference is between a military base show having their aircraft do some type of flying (happens very often), and a civilian show having guest military fly during the show? I can't really think of too many shows that have military do passes, Oshkosh comes to mind for a show that gets that sort of participation often.ssims45 wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2019 3:23 pm I know logistically it'd be a nightmare but I always thought it'd be nice if shows could put up some of the statics to do some passes throughout the day. I'm happy I'm showing up to Michigan Thursday night, really excited to catch military arrivals (arrivals in general!) as it's no surprise Thunder has very good representation. Hoping that Ecorse will be open, I don't see why it wouldn't be? I plan on staying late as possible Sunday too to hopefully catch some departures.

^Depends on where the aircraft are staged. Some staged within the static display area are harder to pull and get in the air. Some actives on bases, however, could stage outside the static area and perform.
With that said, some displays opt to leave on Sunday during Thunder. See them on the ramp in the morning and then some depart either during the show or shortly after (a pair of F-15s left during the show last year, for example).
The Mid-Atlantic Air Museum's B-25J Mitchell "Briefing Time" has been added to the lineup

Good point about staging. It's always nice when shows have good outside military participation. Typically a good chance of seeing departures after a Sunday show. I've seen some videos of the F-15's, hopefully something similar this year!Bretten Bailey wrote: ↑Thu May 09, 2019 2:02 pm ^Depends on where the aircraft are staged. Confirmed for static display, a C-130J Hercules from the 314th Airlift Wing at Little Rock Air Force Base ("The Rock").

More than likely back down to 12 Corsairs for the time being. John O Connor's white AU-1 (F4U-7) was pretty beat up in what seems to be a gear up landing off the end of the runway. Really sucks, probably won't see that plane for a long time since I'm never in the Midwest

May's updated list is on their site. Nothing besides VWOC's Corsair added, as well as the military that has already been announced prior. Briefing Time is not on the new list yet (maybe made before the confirmation of attendance).
Still anxiously waiting on Corsair 14 (13 now because the scratch on the AU-1), and the Heritage Flight Skyraider. Maybe John will bring the Bearcat as a substitute for the Corsair??
Also curious about Doc and the XP-82.
Getting closer!!!

According to a Facebook post, a Luftwaffe A-400M Atlas has been added to the Static Display lineup for the show. I'll be waiting for confirmation from their social media team, but this individual is heavily involved in the show.
