USAF Heritage Flight
With next year being the 75th anniversary of the USAF, I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to which parts of the country are the best bet for me to go an airshow and being able something other than the P-51 Mustang flying in a Heritage Flight with the current active duty aircraft such as the A-10, F-16, F-22 or F-35?
At one point in the early 2000s the warbirds that I usual see in a Heritage Flight were the F-86 Sabre, P-51 Mustang and on one occasion in 2004 a P-38 Lightning. However since the start of 2008, the only warbird I've seen in a Heritage Flight at every airshow I've gone to since was the P-51 Mustang. Just feel that since the 75th anniversary of the USAF is coming up I'd like to be able to see a different warbird besides the P-51 fly in a Heritage Flight for a change.
Not saying that I don't like the P-51, just that seeing nothing but the P-51 in a Heritage Flight for over a decade can make someone such as myself feel I'd like wanting to see either a P-38, P-47, F-86 or P-40 fly in a Heritage Flight for a change.

I'm betting Oshkosh and Nellis could good candidates for different Heritage Flight warbirds, or solo warbird acts in generaln33d4sp33d_85 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 06, 2021 8:32 pm With next year being the 75th anniversary of the USAF, I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to which parts of the country are the best bet for me to go an airshow and being able something other than the P-51 Mustang flying in a Heritage Flight with the current active duty aircraft such as the A-10, F-16, F-22 or F-35?

Chino is another that normally gets something other than a P-51.Dan Gagnon wrote: ↑Mon Sep 06, 2021 9:44 pmI'm betting Oshkosh and Nellis could good candidates for different Heritage Flight warbirds, or solo warbird acts in generaln33d4sp33d_85 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 06, 2021 8:32 pm With next year being the 75th anniversary of the USAF, I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to which parts of the country are the best bet for me to go an airshow and being able something other than the P-51 Mustang flying in a Heritage Flight with the current active duty aircraft such as the A-10, F-16, F-22 or F-35?

One option is to go to Tucson for the Heritage Flight conference, where you will see just about everything! Sadly it's pretty tough to get on base.
I'm afraid traveling out west is really your best bet as most of the non-P-51s are based out there. I'd think Chino is almost guaranteed to have something cool in the HF, if you want one idea specifically.
If Thunder Over Michigan does a P-40 theme, they would probably make that happen as well.

Thank you for your feedback. The warbirds I liked to see specifically are a P-38, P-40, F-86 and P-47.RyanS wrote: ↑Tue Sep 07, 2021 12:39 am One option is to go to Tucson for the Heritage Flight conference, where you will see just about everything! Sadly it's pretty tough to get on base.

Just curious. Of the other warbirds I want to see in a Heritage Flight besides the P-51 Mustang (P-40 Warhawk, F-86 Sabre, P-38 Lightning, A-1 Skyraider and P-47 Thunderbolt) which one do you want to see the most out of the five I mentioned in the parenthesis?

P-47 is the ultimate HF catch for me. I am not sure I've seen it happen outside of my visit to the Heritage Flight Conference. I have seen all of the others at least a few times over the years

Yeah I'm trying to think if I've ever seen the Jug in the HF outside the HF conference. I'm not sure that I have.

The only time I know of not at the HF conference is several times at Chino.

FYI - The U.S. Air Force Heritage Flight consisting of the A-10 Thunderbolt II, A-1D Skyraider, and P-47 Thunderbolt
flew all together in a rare close-air-support HF at the 2017 Wings Over Houston Air show also >>>>
