My wife and I are looking forward to the 2020 airshow in the Great State of Maine. This airshow will have a very special meaning for us. It's not only something we used to take our sons to when they were young but it will be the first time an MV22 Osprey will perform in the Maine airshow. Both our sons were in the military. Our oldest was a Capt. in the Army Infantry and our youngest was Capt. Benjamin R. Cross USMC. Ben was a marine pilot and flew the MV22 Osprey. He was stationed in Okinawa Japan with the VMM265 Dragons. He was tragically killed during a training mission off the coast of Australia on August 5th 2017. He loved flying the Osprey and we are so proud of him and all his accomplishments.

GREAT STATE OF MAINE AIR SHOW CANCELLED!!!
COVID-19 PANDEMIC RESTRICTIONS FORCE CANCELLATION OF AUGUST 15-16 EVENT AT BRUNSWICK LANDING; TICKET REFUNDS FORTHCOMING
Brunswick, Maine – The Great State of Maine Air Show which was scheduled for August 15 & 16, 2020 at the Brunswick Executive Airport, has officially canceled.

The show had been notified that mandates on social gatherings with more than 50 people are slated to remain through the month of August. Therefore, the uncertainty makes the show untenable.

In hopes that these regulations would be modified, the Show made efforts to change the event set up to ensure social distancing needs by dramatically reducing capacity by 70% of previous crowd sizes. Moreover, the new plan would have ensured social distancing by providing space, assigned seating for all guests who would attend the show.

The Air Show was scheduled to feature the U.S. Navy Blue Angels and the F-16 Viper Demo Team as the headlining acts. The event was set to be the only New England appearance for the Blue Angels in 2020 and their first show in Maine since 2017.

“Our hands are tied but we can’t say we didn’t try,” says Jim Breen, President of The Air Show Network, the production company for the Air Show. “COVID-19 challenged us to find new ways to safely put on a show for our guests with social distancing. We came up with an alternative to traditional air show models but due to the State mandates on social gatherings, it was impossible for us to move forward with planning the show.”

“We’re saddened by this decision, but we need to comply with State requirements for the sake of public safety,” Steve Levesque, Executive Director of the Mid-coast Regional Redevelopment Authority, owner/operator of the Brunswick Executive Airport, said. “We hope to have another show in 2021 or 2022 depending on the Blue Angels availability.”

Refunds will be given to those who have already purchased tickets. The show asks ticket holders to allow one month for refunds to reflect in their accounts.

Interesting, like a week ago practically every photographer I know of was entertaining the thought of buying on of the 'very limited edition VIP tickets' and heading to Maine if it was going to be the only show going. So soon after that they pulled the plug entirely. They certainly tried but just more of the same. I feel bad for organizers having to make these calls.

I hear you and I feel sorry for them, although, its the state governor's suggestion and on the other hand CDC guidelines. I'm really hating all this false information, it's causing a lot of entertainment air shows for an example to pull the plug on the events, even in the fall. But all we can do right now is just have faith for right now, I can ensure you that some airshows will take off this year. This is a really bad year, just gotta make most of it.
