Any word on whether the A-10 demo team will attend?

That weekend is open.

I would like to see the paintjob.

Also, any word on if the OR ANG unit from Klamath Falls OR will bring their F-15?

They have attended Abby before with regular paint F-15s in the past.

I would not hold my breath for an A-10 Demo this year. Itโ€™s become increasingly rare and almost unheard of to see two ACC demos at the same show. With the F-22 secure, the USAF would not likely send an additional demo team to Abbotsford. As for the F-15โ€™s from Oregon, Iโ€™d be patient and wait for the tentative static list to come out sometime late spring/early summer.

According to the airshow insider email, the US Navy Tailhook Legacy Flight will be with a EA-18G Growler from VAQ-129 "Vikings". RAD!!! :D :D :D

Now let's hope they also bring one for static as the Growler has yet to appear at Abby despite being based next door.

We are in for a treat with the E/A-18G Growler. Some of you may know that NAS Whidbey now has an official Demo Team that is participating in Legacy Flights in 2020. This may not mean a full out aerobatic demo, but we can definitely hope for some extra passes by the EA-18G.

My fingers are crossed for a couple of things I've heard of in the works for this year. No teasers/info though, especially this early. I'm sure AIAS will take care of that in due time. :D

I got this email today. Looks interesting.

Heritage & Legacy Flights Added

US Military Aviation History Celebrated
The staff of the Airshow staff is working hard every day putting the pieces in place to make the 2020 event one to remember. We have already announced feature performers including the Snowbirds, CF-18 Hornet, F-22 Raptor and Yak 110. We are now excited to confirm two very special demonstrations for the 2020 Abbotsford International Airshow, celebrating the military aviation history of our American allies: the US Air Force Heritage Flight and the US Navy Legacy Flight.

The Heritage Flight will pair the USAF's most successful fighter of WWII, the P-51 Mustang with the premier air superiority fighter, the F-22 Raptor. The formation honors the contributions of every man and woman who has served in the USAF while helping educate the public on the importance of the USAF mission.

The Legacy Flight will feature the A-1 Skyraider and E/A-18G Growler electronic warfare aircraft from VAQ-129 in NAS Whidbey Island. The two aircraft will join together to celebrate the rich history and tradition of US Naval Aviation around the globe.

The E/A-18G Growler is a specialized version of the Boeing F/A-18 Super Hornet, intended for electronic warfare tactics including detection, radar jamming, and communication suppression. The VAQ-129 "Vikings" stationed at NAS Whidbey Island have flown the E/A-18G since 2008.

The warbirds participating in the Heritage and Legacy flights are from the Heritage Flight Museum in Burlington, WA. The P-51 Mustang "Val-Halla" will be flown by Lt. Col. (ret'd) Greg Anders and the A-1 Skyraider "Proud American" by his brother Alan Anders. Both are sons of Apollo 8 astronaut, Maj. Gen. Bill Anders.

I appreciate the effort to try to hold on but, let's face it, cancellation is inevitable. There is no way we will be having outdoor gatherings of 20,000 people in 4 months. I'll be happy if we're having gatherings of 100 people by then! At this point, I'm just hopeful things are back to normal by August 2021...even that's not a sure thing.

Iโ€™ve personally been holding back on posting as we are obviously faced with the unknown due to this pandemic.

Although restrictions may soon be changing, itโ€™s already been made obvious that no large scale gatherings/events will be occurring in the province of British Columbia this summer. There is really no way around that. The next best thing in this situation is for the show to postpone, however that is much easier said than done. Itโ€™s likely that if a postponed event even takes place, it will differ greatly from the event we are normally accustomed to and could be much smaller.

My fingers are crossed that Iโ€™m wrong. The AIAS is looking into all alternatives possible (as mentioned in the article above) and they will officially announce the fate of this years event in due time. With that being said, I apologize for not being able to provide any further performer and statics updates like normal.

Stay safe everyone.
