:D
Two of the French Navy’s last serving Westland Lynx small ships helicopters will participate in the Royal Navy International Air Day on Saturday 11 July. The Lynx pair, from the last eight operated by Flotille 34F based at Lanvéoc-Poulmic in Brittany, are making one final Air Day appearance before they are retired after 40+ years’ maritime patrol and anti-submarine warfare use. This is an especially welcome addition for the many former Royal Navy Lynx personnel and enthusiasts who recall this helicopter’s long and distinguished Fleet Air Arm service, including almost 20 years based at RNAS Yeovilton. It is hoped that the French Navy Lynxes will appear in special ‘farewell’ markings – one in a historic camouflage scheme and the other with nose art.
