USAF F-35 Demo Team Adding Flares For 2020?

The USAF F-35 Demo Team was spotted popping flares recently, and posted these photos today:

It's very promising to see flares becoming more common in US demos. The Viper Demo Team was going to use them in Stuart last year (but didn't due to a crash and then bad weather) and now it appears the F-35 may be approved for them also!
