If I can recall, a bunch of neighbors of mine started coming out and panicking about what it was so I explained it to them. I bet there were a lot of 911 calls that dayNick wrote: ↑Sun Jan 17, 2021 4:52 am14... I'm curious of the sound of the twin Wright R-2600-92s was like for the area to be hearing during that weekend. Not going to lie, but nearby residents must have thought their was a air raid happening over YIP airspace.smalldude333 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 17, 2021 3:23 am Yeah, if I can remember, last time TOM had a Mitchell gathering, 15 Mitchells showed up and 14 of them flew at the same time (one having mechanical issue). I bet they are trying to beat that number if they can.

I wonder of TOM will fall victim to the cancelations of the F-35 demo team this year. I am am not quite sure about this, but I assume the shows the F-35 will cancel at will be earlier in the airshow season.

I kind of want the F-35 team to cut TOM because the ACC will replace them with either the F-22, A-10, or F-16 demo team, but I checked the schedules and the F-16 team is the only one without a show that week so there is a possibility they may return, I'm not sure.

I believe the demo confirmed that they have canceled 8 of their original scheduled performances so far as of now until the situation improves, but the bottom line is the Demo Team won't be hitting the road for quite some time, the Viper Demo, as you stated, has an "Open Weekend" of the 7th & 8th, so that may vary depending on whether they are willing to support the event, the team had supposedly performed last year, so it's quite questionable for now if they will. Here in Southern California, Hangar 24 was anticipated to have the Demo team, but for that show, they haven't crossed off, but its somewhat likely, since Symra and 7 other shows are unable to have the Demo Team, so there good be a good chance that the Demo Team might cross off TOM, depending on their engine situation by then and when they will have it fully repaired by then.robert16627 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 11, 2021 2:29 pm I kind of want the F-35 team to cut TOM because the ACC will replace them with either the F-22, A-10, or F-16 demo team, but I checked the schedules and the F-16 team is the only one without a show that week so there is a possibility they may return, I'm not sure.

H24 will probably cancel if the F-35 is dropped, heck they might even cancel again anyway unless we get vaccines out quicker. TOM might be able to keep the F-35. Smyrna more than likely got dropped because they're already getting the Thunderbirds. I would look at the events that have the Tbirds or Blues headlining to get dropped.Nick wrote: ↑Thu Feb 11, 2021 4:21 pmI believe the demo confirmed that they have canceled 8 of their original scheduled performances so far as of now until the situation improves, but the bottom line is the Demo Team won't be hitting the road for quite some time, the Viper Demo, as you stated, has an "Open Weekend" of the 7th & 8th, so that may vary depending on whether they are willing to support the event, the team had supposedly performed last year, so it's quite questionable for now if they will. I was really hoping to see the F-35 this year. First opportunity to see it besides at Selfridge for Airshow London.robert16627 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 11, 2021 2:29 pm I kind of want the F-35 team to cut TOM because the ACC will replace them with either the F-22, A-10, or F-16 demo team, but I checked the schedules and the F-16 team is the only one without a show that week so there is a possibility they may return, I'm not sure.
Great point, you are probably right because it will be easier to just remove the a demo or swap one knowing there is already a huge headliner. I think shows that also have more than one demo team planned will fall victim too.GRNDP51 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 11, 2021 8:53 pm H24 will probably cancel if the F-35 is dropped, heck they might even cancel again anyway unless we get vaccines out quicker. Good point, but H24 I would still consider a possibility, neither a "go ahead" or "Cancelled", we are scheduled to have 100 mullion vaccines pumped out and available to the entire nation by the initial start of May, the show occurs the 15th & 16th weekend of May (basically the third weekend of the month). Though I predict these are probably the likely scenarios that could happen, one the Airfest cancels and moves forward with 2022, two, they could postpone to a later date where the Demo Team is free, an identical action Planes of Fame took a couple of weeks back by moving the dates to the 30th & 31st of Halloween Weekend (Last weekend of October). Lastly, third, they could only hope that we have enough vaccines pumped out by then and likely implement safety measures or either move ahead with the virtual format and ACC will likely assign it a different Demo Team since all demo teams are free that weekend, in which this "thrid" scenario is seriously very unlikely, but we'll have to wait and see how the motion of things will go, and what direction they will take. My prediction is for H24 is they will probably postpone it to a later date, but repeatedly I could be wrong.GRNDP51 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 11, 2021 8:53 pm H24 will probably cancel if the F-35 is dropped, heck they might even cancel again anyway unless we get vaccines out quicker.
