Also important to note that the display location is important. When they had it in 2019, it was at the southern end of the field, and as such, the only concrete surfaces are runway 5 and the adjacent taxiway. There were maybe 6 statics total, just lined up in a row. They were pretty rare though (QF-16, E-2D, E-9A). I didn't see where the crowd area would be on the website. I would say, given the fact that I drove almost 11 hours both ways, that the show was still worth the trip.

Thanks for the reminder on the statics. Yeah, I'd expect a E-2 Hawkeye on static since Northrop Grumman is a sponsor and they work on those at the airport. I do see some flying around semi-regularly. I do remember walking quite a ways from the parking lot to the show line (I was recovering from a minor surgical op, so I was a bit slow).

A Growler? Wow, I hope that does happen. I'm kind of surprised that the Navy is sending a Growler when then Blue Angels are there. I'm not complaining though, more jet noise is awesome.

Greg Colyer won't be appearing at Melbourne next month.
I am sad to announce I have had to CX the Melbourne FL show and the Great Tennessee Airshow. I had 7 Shows on the eastern side of the country and 5 of them have canceled so It does not make financial sense to make the trip all the way out for 2 shows. I could not come close to breaking even after Insurance and fuel out and back. I am hoping that Pease will still happen in Sept along with a stint at Pax River. For now I am off to teach at Edwards TPS for May and first show will be Tacoma WA on 4th of July followed by Eielson AFB Fairbanks AK

Bummer about Ace Maker for sure. Growler is a welcome edition though, and a little birdie told me there may be Navy legacy flight as well. No clue as to what WWII bird would take part in that yet though. Two legacy flights would be super cool! Kinda new around here, hope to be more.

To celebrate those who have served on the front lines with the pandemic, the Sunday show (May 16) will be known as Health Care Hero Day ❤️

The Great Florida Air Show has donated 1,000 tickets to be distributed through Health First to Heroes in various roles from patient care, administrative, custodial services and beyond.

The Air Show Network and The Orlando Melbourne International Airport are proud to sponsor these tickets.

Join us in a shoutout to Healthcare providers everywhere!

Statics per their website- E-2 Hawkeye
C-130 Hurricane Hunter
T-38
T-8 (??)
Air Force VR Experience
Navy Nimitz Simulator
Florida Inst of Tech Stem Exhibit
Dragster Exhibit

I have to say I must be really spoiled as this is the fewest I have ever seen, by far. What does one do most of the day with only nine flying acts and only a handful of statics? Hope the beer is cold and that there is some outstanding food!

Shows in Melbourne never seem to have a lot of statics. I believe the Valiant Air Command in Titusville was supposed to be supporting this show (with statics, I would assume), but with the crash of their TBM Avenger at the Cocoa Beach Airshow I'm not sure if they will send any planes down for statics/flying. I'm also kind of surprised that the USAF Rescue Wing from Patrick AFB isn't sending a helo for statics.

Ya, and this was made known to me a little while back, but four...yikes! I'm not even sure what exactly a T-8 is. Hawker Hunter.....two seat Harrier? I needed to get to a show asap so I will just have to grin and bear it. It will just make the shows I go to here on the west coast seem that much better I gues.s
