This place is just magic! Some highlights from training and show day 1 below... will let the gifs do the talking.

WHAT A SHOW! A great day yesterday, and when I woke up today totally unvaccinated, I didn't expect to spend the morning standing under some incredible low beat-ups from the Flying Bulls to kick off the day and then to be 100% vaccinated by lunchtime! There was a free, walk-up, single shot vaccination stand at the show, so I thought why not? Some gifs from today and yesterday at the end of the post.

Leszno once again pulled it out the bag in spectacular style. Particular highlights were the Flying Bulls, with a spectacular sunset show featuring the B-25, P-51, T-28, Edge 540, P-38 and five hot air balloons, starting with formation flybys but soon breaking into solo or pairs flybys and manoeuvres. Other highlights inlcuded the flare-filled Swiss Super Puma and Polish C-130 demonstrations. The pick of the pyro shows were Aerosparx and Marek Choim. The former performed manoeuvres around - and within - an impressive ground-launched firework show, while Marek performed a Red Bull Air Race style chicane around pillars of fireworks in his Extra 330. Other choice displays included Zelazny Aerobatic Group and some lovely solos by the SB Lim-2 and L-29 Delfin.

The weakest elements were the two main Polish AF displays. The F-16 was quite distant and contained little to write home about (but then, it's a demo team trained by the Greeks, who were in turn trained by the Americans. Not exactly a recipe for a world-class Viper solo display). Team Orlik were a huge disappointment and it was truly sad to see this once-great team reduced to a three-ship, down even from the five-ship promised a few months ago. A display notable for very simple, distant manoeuvres, imperfect formation flying, far too much dead time and none of the bomb bursts or opposing passes that the team are usually so good at. But having just two disappointing acts in a line up so extensive is a feat to be proud of in itself.

All round, a superb show, and Leszno 2020 and 2021 now take the crown for the best two airshows I've ever been to.
