B-25 "Miss Mitchell" will not be able to attend due to critical engine damage and needing the engine to get overhauled.
This week our maintenance team unfortunately discovered critical engine damage on our B-25 Miss Mitchell and have been working to repair it. Over the weekend, we discovered that the engine is not repairable by our maintenance team, but will require a full engine overhaul and will need to be sent back to the engine overhaul facility.

It is with deep sadness that we will not be able to participate in the Raid Across South Dakota or the Ellsworth Airshow. Our volunteers have truly been looking forward to both events. We hope that the engine overhaul can be completed quickly so that we can prevent additional show cancellations this season.

If you would like to contribute to our engine fund, please click here to help us get back in the air.

We truly appreciate your support and understanding.

The article says a P-51 is going to replace Miss Mitchell for Raid '22. I can only assume the P-51 in question is Happy Jack's Go Buggy

A comment about the show. I must say, I was disappointed in the lack of B-1 stuff. The 2 ship B-1 was cool, and so was the missed approach, but for it being their home show, AND being the 35th Anniversary of the B-1 at the base, AND the 75th anniversary of the USAF, I really expected more from the hometown boys. There was not 1 high speed, wings swung back pass by any of the B-1s that flew.

Is there a reason for this? Are there restrictions on the aircraft?

When I planned this trip, I really was expecting the B-1s to be the centre piece of the show (other then the Blues). Unfortunately I was left let down.

Dyess does a great job showcasing the B-1. Several high speed passes with a vertical barrel roll!!
