First and foremost: thankfully, it sounds like the Snowbirds pilot was not injured, as the plane "suffered damage" during takeoff (according to a story on Global BC). The article also stated the plane was joining the team already in Penticton; if it wasn't one of the "performance" jets, hopefully a better chance there's less impact on their participation in Abbotsford. First thing to see will be if they perform tomorrow in Penticton.
Second: a question to riff raff (or any others in the know): according to the schedule of arrivals posted, does that mean most of the statics aren't arriving until Friday - thinking of the FAF Phenix, the A-10s, F-15s, all of the F-35s and presumably a CF-18 or two for static/NORAD performance (and others)?
If that's the case, my plan to come out on Thursday may change to a Friday trip if the majority of the arrivals aren't until then.
Again, thanks for any info that can be provided.

If no time or date is indicated it means those crews have yet to share their arrival information with the airshow. I would expect the majority of arrivals on Thursday.Frenetic Enigma wrote: ↑Tue Aug 02, 2022 11:57 pm

Since the Friday of the airshow became a night show, Thursday has almost become primarily the arrival day for US and foreign military while Friday morning to early afternoon is almost all Canadian aircraft. CF-18 demo jet is an exception.Frenetic Enigma wrote: ↑Tue Aug 02, 2022 11:57 pm First and foremost: thankfully, it sounds like the Snowbirds pilot was not injured, as the plane "suffered damage" during takeoff (according to a story on Global BC). With the current schedule it looks like we can expect to see the Thunderbirds at 3pm and the support C-17 will be arriving at 4pm.

Do we have a final word on whether or not the USAF F-35A fleet will still be grounded this weekend?

Since 1971 the Snowbirds have been in attendance every year in Abbotsford. The Snowbirds are the highlight of the show and are the finale that everyone looks forward to on Saturday and Sunday and the opening act for the Friday night show. The unfortunate incident that occurred means that this is the first time the Abbotsford Airshow will not be hosting the Canadian Forces Snowbirds since their formation. From what I understand a rework of the events schedule is taking place and hopefully will be revised by Friday morning.

A few things:
- Snowbirds and the USAF F-35s have been removed from the website. Hopefully this is a sign that they are keeping things updated.
- Dutch F-35s are still there (fingers crossed)
Heres a quick video of Thunderbird14 Heavy arriving last night (C-17 from Travis AFB)
