Today Captain Bertrand "Bubu" Butin the new display pilot for the French Air & Space Force Rafale Solo Display Team begins the training ahead of the 2022 Airshow Season.

Bubu will continue training over Saint-Dizier-Robinson Air Base 2 to 3 times a day usually on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays until mid-April when his display will be validated by the Senior French Air & Space Force officials. The Rafale Solo Display Team will perform the first public display of 2022 in May and travel all over the world showcasing the agility and power of the Rafale.

Captain Bertrand "Bubu" Butin comes from the 30e Escadre de Chasse (30th Hunting Squadron) of the Mont-de-Marsan Air Base and has over 1000 flight hours on the Rafale. He began his career flying the Mirage F1 in Reims and is no stranger to the airshow world previously flying the TB 30 Epsilon with the French Air Force aerobatic team Cartouche Doré.

We are looking forward to seeing Bubu and the new specially painted Rafale at the European Airshows soon. Stay tuned for the Rafale Solo Display 2022 calendar and more news on the paint job.
