I find it unbelievable that the economic impact of the airport is jeopardized by a four-hour window of performances three days out of the year. I think the airport will withstand a grand total of 12 hours of impact over course of 365 days. It sounds like the airport CEO is being uncooperative and overdramatic to me.

He absolutely is, especially since of that four hours per day, only about half (or less) would actually impact airport operations, as the civilian acts don't require the same airspace restrictions. He makes it sound like airlines are tripping over themselves to start routes into TVC but are telling the air service development department, "Well, if it weren't for that pesky air show you have every summer..." Hogwash. No offense to Traverse City; it seems like a nice enough place, but...they're not. That airport is bordering on an EAS contract. If Sanford, Charleston, etc., can host an air show while growing their air service, then there's no reason TVC can't, and I'd argue that the lost economic boost from the air show will outweigh any uptick from another half-full CRJ hop to Chicago. As for the air ambulance argument, he's treating his audience like they're fools. Any emergency flight is going to take precedence over the air show and the show will be delayed, and any non-emergency medical flight will simply schedule its arrival/departure around the TFR.
