78 years ago today the Lockheed Constellation flew for the first time.
It was #OTD in 1943 that the Lockheed Constellation made its first flight. The Constellation series was the first pressurized-cabin civil airliner series to go into widespread use, enabling large numbers of commercial passengers to fly well above most bad weather for the first time. Three Connies even served as the presidential aircraft for Dwight D. Eisenhower. Pictured here is the military version of the Connie... do you know its designation?
