The #Gunfighters recently welcomed a new heritage jet to its air fleet. The heritage jet sports a nonstandard camouflage pattern inspired from Vietnam-era jets like the F-4 and F-100. This past October, the wing celebrated its 25th unit anniversary of being redesignated from the 149th Fighter Group to the 149th Fighter Wing, and the new paint scheme commemorates the occasion. #ThrowbackThursday #AFheritage #UncompromisedExcellence #MissionDominance

In 1941, during the second world war, BAF 350 Squadron, currently based at the Florennes Air Base was created as part of the RAF. To celebrate the 80th anniversary of the squadron, an F-16AM (FA-86) received a specially marked tail. During the spotters day on the 24th of June 2021, which was organized to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Belgian Air force, a limited number of photographers were able to photograph the aircraft. The tail's design was made by Johan Wolfs, the designer of many other special liveries that flew within the Belgian Air Force.

Happy #WarthogWednesday!
To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Maryland Air National Guard last week, an A-10 was painted in honor of the aircrafts flown in 1921.
WATCH the painting of the A-10 from start to finish in this awesome time-lapse!

Being in twilight of its carrier, legacy Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) F/A-18A Hornet A21-18/18 has been painted recently by Boeing Australia.

Besides turning up to participate in the exercise "Talisman Sabre 2021", and if servicebility permits, no doubt 75 Squadron's black Hornet will also be present during the RAAF 100 years anniversary festivities.

75 Squadron Seek and Strike is the last squadron operating the legacy Hornet. The unit is based at RAAF Base Tindal (NT). It will re-equip with the Lockheed Martin F-35A Lightning II in the near future.

Heritage Rafale

To celebrate the 80th anniversary of EC03.030 "Lorraine" (Escadron de Chasse) of the Armée de l'Air et de l'Espace, (AAE, French Air and Space Force) its personnel decided to give one of their Rafale C fighters a heritage livery.

The unit, which is nowadays based at BA118 Mont-de-Marsan, has a history that goes back to the early days of the Second World War. Already in September 1940, French pilots and airmen left Britain to join the French forces present in Equatorial Africa and the Middle East. One month later Groupe Réservé de Bombardement no. 1 (GRB1) was formed. This unit later became the Lorraine Bombardment Group.

This French air military unit of the Free French Air Forces distinguished itself in North Africa and Western Europe.

To commemorate the heritage of their predecessors, EC03.030 has chosen to give their Rafale C 30-GK the livery of a Bristol Blenheim bomber as it was flown during the North Africa campaign.
