VFC-12 Proposed Super Hornet Paint Schemes

Post by awal2049 » Wed Nov 18, 2020 1:45 am

VFC-12 at NAS Oceana will be saying goodbye to their F/A-18A+ Legacy Hornets and upgrading to 12 F/A-18E/F Super Hornets next year, according to the drive. The proposed paint schemes are all shown in the article. I'm partial to the Iranian Tomcat, Lizard, Cloud, and Sierra, but only time will tell which of the 13 new schemes get selected. Maybe, if we're lucky, we'll see some at the Oceana Air Show next year.

On a bittersweet note, this also will bring us closer to the end of the Legacy Hornet service life in the US Navy. VFA-204 "River Rattlers" and TOPGUN will be the last two
Navy units to operate it.

Very cool proposed paint schemes. I'm leaning towards the following: Lizard, Cloud, Sierra, Ghost, Su-34 Fullback and J-15 Flying Shark

Like you said, only time will tell. Fingers crossed that we'll get to see some at NAS Oceana next year.

I would be thrilled to see any on them! The gray camo on their current jet is pretty cool too.
