Years ago I used to bring my scanner to airshows. I understand times have changed and that's no longer allowed at some shows.

The rules say no 2-way aviation radios. My scanner cannot transmit, thus it's not a two-way radio by my interpretation. Am I likely to have problems going through security at this airshow if I bring a handheld scanner? I wouldn't even attempt it at a military base, but we'll be on the civilian side of the field.

I'm only an hour drive from Terre Haute and have my tickets already, so I'll be going whether I can bring my scanner or not.

Also, has anyone heard anything about parking? I know it's free, but is it on-site or remote with a shuttle bus?

Thanks!

Kevin

Is there somewhere to watch the ground show for the Blues? Or will they be parked away from spectators and just taxi out to the runway?

I would love to see the walkout and startup of the jets.

They were parked on a taxiway towards the north end of the crowd line at the last show, but I can't remember which one. I'm assuming it will be similar this time around.

Blue Angel 7, the A-10 Demo Team, Doc, the Corsair and at least two P-51s have arrived. The weather forecast unfortunately looks terrible for Saturday and I doubt I will bother making the drive that day. Sunday looks much better. Hopefully that holds and we'll get some flying in this weekend.

Brings up another question. Where is the crowd line? Never been to Terre Haute show before, first time. Excited!

Assuming they're doing the same thing as last time (and I don't see why they wouldn't), the show line parallels runway 5/23 and faces southeast.

The Blues are parked in front of the crowd line. The A-10s are pretty far to the north end of the ramp. The layout is pretty similar to last time
