Any one Know which airport T-Birds and F-35 will stage out of?

F-35—Demo team has a minimum runway length requirement of 7,000 feet (per 2021 Demo Team Support Manual (Link Below)

MY GUESS would be Selfridge (KMTC)

OPTIONS = AIRPORTs within 60 miles with a runway length greater than 7000 FT
Detroit-Wayne (DTW) = 12,000 ft runway | 13 miles from YIP
Toledo (TOL) = 10,600 ft runway | 46 miles from YIP
Selfridge (KMTC) 9000 ft runway | 47 miles from YIP
Flint (FNT) = 7800 ft runway | 50 Miles from YIP
Lansing (LAN) = 8500 ft runway | 61 miles from YIP

OUT
Pontiac (PTK) = 6500 fr runway
Detroit Metro (DET) = 5092 ft runway

I imagine Brett and some others will know for sure, but my money would certainly be on Selfridge with Toledo as the only other reasonable possibility.

Good research!

Hello,

SUPER DELTA -

I was fortunate to have been at the Kansas City Airshow. Which also Featured the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds on July 3rd & 4th, 2021

Blue Angels & Thunderbirds performed the SUPER DELTA (Minus 2 T-Birds) on Sunday after the KC Airshow.

Both teams departed New Century (JCI) Airport around the same time.
6 Blue Angels Super Hornets with 4 T-Birds joined up making 1 Pass over Downtown Kansas City between 620 PM - 640 PM Local Central Time.

Upon completion the pass each team flew back to their home Bases. Blue Angels to NAS Pensacola (NPA), FL and
Thunderbirds to Nellis AFB (LSV), Las Vegas, Nevada respectively.

I hope the Super Delta will happen in one of the shows at TOM.

However, Realistically, if a coordinated Super Delta is flown,
My guess it would be between 530 PM = 7 PM on Sunday August 8th over downtown Detroit.

I highly recommend tracking the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds Twitter and Instagram pages.
Both teams posted they were planning to fly the debut of the super delta approx. 2 hours prior to the actual fly over on Sunday.

Fingers Crossed

Kind Regards,
KUBX

It's Selfridge. Considering the Blues will be on-site, the staging off the field thing isn't permanent, it's just how it has to be to properly fit all of this stuff on the ramp, and easily navigate it all around with the show style and construction. I don't know if the F-35 will be off-site, that was news to me. I was pretty sure it'll be on the makeshift hot ramp with the HF warbird like normal. Could be wrong though...

^There's your answer.

There is the possibility of the Super Delta on Sunday. But that is about it right now. Obviously everything is extremely fluid and still in its early stages (which is crazy considering we are less than three weeks out but that's the name of the game presently).

It is going to be a terrific weekend though :).

Thunderbirds and F-35 will be at Selfridge. Little bit of a "duh" moment for me, the Air Force jets need a longer runway (construction playing it's part) than the Navy jets, hence why the Blues and Growlers will be at Willow. This also affects some of the possible statics that need the long runway too. As Brett said, it's gonna be an awesome weekend no matter how you slice it!

Aircraft List Updated -

https://yankeeairmuseum.org/airshow/aircraft-list/

The most notable would be losing 'Yellow Rose'. Some teething problems with the new engines and understandable hesitancy about the long flight to and from MI. Still a few more being 25's being discussed.

2.5 weeks to go!
