So, the F-22 Demo Team is there and performing?

Kind of confused. They said they did not go to Cherry Point.

So, they performed yesterday and will again today?

No, they didn't perform. I think I what happened is the decision to cancel the demo was made after the team had arrived. I'd be curious to know why they cancelled the demo. They wheeled one into the static display area and left the other by the performing military aircraft. (See first attached image). They had a booth in the display area and did a raffle, but they did not fly.

Anyway, day two was great. The Blues used the single seat jet, so I guess the issue didn't take long to resolve. They did the burner loop on takeoff, I'm assuming due to the strong crosswind they had. There was pyro during MAGTF, but sadly, Fat Albert didn't fly today. As a bonus, however, they had Randy Ball in the MiG-17 race Aftershock. That was awesome.

I'm excited to start editing this footage. The MAGTF videos are some of the best I've ever shot. Cool thing about going both days is you get a second chance at any videos you messed up the first day. Currently sitting on my porch, reflecting, and watching aircraft depart. Here are a few screenshots from my videos from Saturday.

So, no F-22 Demo, but they did bring the 2 jets. One was in static area and other on the ramp.

Interesting.

I was going to go to get some photos of F-22, but then I heard there was not going to be a demo.

Long and complicated trip for me from NY, so I did not go.

Should have gone and would have taken photos.

I really only wanted static shots. I have seen the Demo 4 times this year, but the team did not stage from crowd line at the shows I went to.

Anybody else get some nice static shots of the F-22 Raptor?

PM me if you are interested in selling some photos of the F-22.

Day one was fantastic. Pretty much everything went on without a hitch. The J-3 was flown by RJ Gritter; didn't realize he had a comedy routine. The MAGTF pyro stopped about half way through, so no Wall of Fire. Still cool to see the F-35 do some ACM.

Blue Angel 6 (btw, Lcdr. Cary Rickoff, "Chewie", was flying 6. Maybe I missed Lance Benson's departure, can anyone fill me in?) had an issue and went around on the landing. Very rare to see. Spoke to Rocket, and he said a landing gear was indicating that it wasn't locked, but it was probably a sensor malfunction. 6 did a trap on Runway 32L and the fire trucks rushed to the jet. We'll see if the tow the spare out tomorrow.

Besides those two things, it was a flawless show with flawless weather. Tomorrow should be the same.
The Blue Angels have had two #6 pilots this year...Rickoff and Benson. Supposedly, Rickoff developed some sort of ear imbalance at the end of training in El Centro. They brought Benson back to the team even though he was part of the diamond (3/4 pilot) previously. I know at TOM, Benson flew #6 and then a few weeks later...I think maybe it was at ASL...Rickoff was flying #6.

FYI - Rob Reider mentioned the reason why the F-22 Demo didn't fly was because their demo pilot, Cabo,
tested positive for Covid unfortunately, so they just brought 2 F-22s for static display instead at least.

Poor Cabo . . . hope he is OK. Hope the entire F-22 Demo Team is OK.

Stay Healthy guys!!

I saw some Smugmug photos taken by Lockheed Martin photographer Todd Martin showing 94th Fighter Squadron pilots were at the show. I guess they flew in the F-22's to Cherry Point.

And look at the goodies they were selling:

Flown Flags!! Patches!! Hats!! Shirts!! WOW!!

I wish I could have been there. I would have bought everything. Anybody buy some extra goodies and are willing to sell? PM me if you are.

Wishing Cabo and the F-22 Team a full recovery.

Sorry, I made an error.

The Lockheed Martin Photographer is Todd McQueen and not Todd Martin.

Hope he is not angry.

First time at the show this year and I thought it was a pretty awesome airshow all round, certainly one I'll go to again. Weather and lighting were perfect, and probably the quickest I've ever gotten off a base post show.

Here's a few of my pics:

Those shots make the show look really enticing. Great job!
