2017 New York Airshow Moves Dates To July, Lands Blue Angels

US Navy Blue Angels and Crowd

The US Navy Blue Angels have filled a notable hole in their schedule, the 4th of July weekend. The team announced today that they will be performing at the New York Airshow at Stewart International Airport in Newburgh, NY on July 1-2. The airshow was previously scheduled for September, but organizers changed dates to take advantage of the opportunity. They say tickets that were already purchased for the September dates will be exchanged for the new dates, and that details will be made available in the coming days.

The airshow also garnered attention recently when it was included on the schedule for the 2017 Patrouille de France North American tour. That appearance is listed for April 22nd and 23rd, and many were confused as to whether the airshow would move to April or be held separately. Subsequent posts by the event’s Facebook page have indicated that the French appearance is a private performance for media and invited guests only, and is entirely separate from the regular airshow.

In other Blue Angels news, we recently reported that the team’s beloved C-130 Hercules known as “Fat Albert” will miss the beginning of the 2017 airshow season due to ongoing maintenance.
