JBSA's "The Great Texas Air Show" 2024
They just posted the schedule for JBSA,
I don't see the B-1, B-52, Thunderbirds, F-18, and others as listed on the Performers tab.
Are they performing?

Ok, now I see a note, they are still finalizing the schedule and performers.

Does anyone know the reason why we don't see the B-1, B-52, F-18 Rhino, and other performers not on the show schedule vs what they posted on the performers tab? Is it because they changed venues (AFB)? Or are they are still finalizing the schedule and they may appear later once confirmed?
Looking for more insight information.
Thanks,
Mike

Welcome to the world of Airshow deception and “operational commitments”.samoth97 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 14, 2024 7:19 pm Does anyone know the reason why we don't see the B-1, B-52, F-18 Rhino, and other performers not on the show schedule vs what they posted on the performers tab? Thank you for the reply.
Yeah, it seems be going this way lately. My first time attending Smokey Hill Bomb Range open house last year, 2023, the B-1, A-10's, and F-16's were canceled due to operational commitments. Nellis, the air air show I've been attending since early 2000's....canceled in 2023 and moved to 2025.
Oh well!! I'll enjoy whatever it is.

I saw on the JBSA website that backpacks aren’t permitted. I use a backpack to carry around my camera equipment. Has anybody had any experience with this type of restriction? What should I do/use to carry around my stuff? Or should I even be worried about this at all?

Most military installations haven't allowed backpacks since 9/11. If you have a telephoto lens with its own bag/case on a strap, you might be able to get it through (it'll be searched at the security checkpoint), keeping a smaller lens attached to the camera body. But honestly, if you can just carry your body and small lens on a strap or harness and carry your telephoto and stuff any extra cards, batteries, filters, etc. in your pockets, that's the best way to ensure getting all your gear through security.bruhwizard1 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2024 11:53 pm I saw on the JBSA website that backpacks aren’t permitted. They will enforce it even if it's a camera bag. I have not reviewed their policies but some bases allow clear bags so you could bring one of those or as mentioned carry the camera and stuff without a bag. I don't think rain will be much of a concern but you can always keep a folded up trash bag to cover/carry stuff if neededbruhwizard1 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2024 11:53 pm I saw on the JBSA website that backpacks aren’t permitted. Base shows are a major pain for this reason.

I've never had an issue with a backpack at Nellis Air Shows and I attended the last one in 2022. That's how I carry my camera gear. Yes, they search it but I've never had an issue.RyanS wrote: ↑Sun Mar 17, 2024 1:07 amThey will enforce it even if it's a camera bag.
