I believe a Thunderbirds arrival/site survey is probably squeezed into those TFRs on Thursday as well, but don't quote me on thatkubx4672 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 02, 2021 7:48 pm TFR IS UP FOR THUNDER OVER MICHIGAN

I am planning on coming out on Friday to try to view the practice offsite before I go to the show on Saturday. I reviewed the previous pages and it sounds like spotting can be a bit iffy on practice days. The consensus I got was that on the Ecorse Service Road you will likely be chased away and that the grass field near Tyler Road is typically the safer option.
Could any of the locals or Thunder vets chime in? I am not a photographer so I am not worried about lighting. At the end of the day I am just trying to find a spot that is close to the action where I won't be hassled by law enforcement all day. Anything you can share would be appreciated. Thanks!

I am a local, and I have not (yet) been kicked off of ecorse service drive WEST of Denton road. You will get kicked out if you are parked on the EAST side of Denton road. Ecorse Service Drive, West of Denton road is the best viewing space where you likely won't get kicked out.MattEv14 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 04, 2021 6:21 pm I am planning on coming out on Friday to try to view the practice offsite before I go to the show on Saturday. Thanks for the quick response! I just Google mapped it and I see where you are referencing. It looks like there are some spots along that portion of the service road where you can pull off in the grass. I guess I will just do that or look for others as I am sure I won't be the only one.
I do wonder if the runway closures and show layout will impact this. Is the show line/box the same as previous years? If anyone goes out for the Blues practice tomorrow I would appreciate any additional intel that can be shared . Thanks again!

I plan to watch one day from the Ecorse service drive west of Denton. The Denton/service drive intersection is about as close to the showline as you can get.
An important note is that the GM facility there will have a security guard defending their turf every so often so make sure you are not on their grass. At the Snowbirds event I saw many people get kicked out from there and move to the north shoulder of the service drive.
