Ellsworth Air and Space Show 2022
I'd recommend Rapid City - there's not really any other big towns / cities between Denver and there, although it is a very scenic drive. Basing out of Rapid City you'll be close to the airshow, the aviation museum just outside Ellsworth front gate, Mt. Rushmore, and about an hour down the road the Minuteman Missile Historical Sites.

I was actually JUST looking at the site myself (already booked my tickets) and I was assuming the F-35, F-16, and C-130 are just static displays. Not sure.
Most of my friends have bailed on the show due to insane ticket prices. I made it a week long family vacation flying to/from Denver to save money, otherwise I'd have probably canceled it too. Really hoping for a tri-bomber flyover or something to make it worth while!

That’s an incredible lineup, just saw on their FB page that the F-16 (likely SDANG from Sioux Falls I would think), C-130J, and F-35 are flying as well. Bringing the family down from Canada for this one, cannot wait.n33d4sp33d_85 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 06, 2020 10:46 pm Ellsworth Air and Space Show 2022

As per the website, the B-2 will only be flying on the Saturday.
"For the most part, the performances will be the same both days. We do know that the B-2 will only be able to be here on Saturday. "

What do you think the B-52 and B-2 will do? Will it just be a flyover or more like a demo?

More then likely fly-bys. They are good for 2-4 passes per bomber. Not sure if there will be anything special, like a bomber formation flight. They did that at Oshkosh in 2017 and it was sweet!Bergen Papa wrote: ↑Tue Apr 26, 2022 12:29 am What do you think the B-52 and B-2 will do? Will it just be a flyover or more like a demo?
Hoping they do something extra (formation flight or extra passes) for the USAF's 75th

As for the bombers for the Ellsworth Airshow, on Saturday we plan on having the Bomber Trifecta Flight with a B-1, B-52, and B-2 in formation around noon time led in by a formation of B-25J Mitchells. Following that will be a single pass by the B-2. After the B-2 pass, we will have 2 more passes by the B-25s followed by a single pass of a B-52. Following the B-52 will be a pair of B-1s for a series of passes. It's a heck of a way to start the show on Saturday!
Later on Saturday we will have the B-1s recover just prior to the Blue Angels demonstration.
On Sunday, we do not have the B-52 or B-2. We have the B-25 Flight around 12:25pm leading in a pair of B-1s. Then 2 more passes by the B-25s followed by the pair of B-1s for a series of passes. Later in the afternoon the B-1s will recover just prior to the Blue Angels demonstration.
A public schedule will be released in early May. We are still fine tuning a few things with the warbird flight.
