Cleveland National Air Show 2022
Sounds like a hot mess for anyone [like me] not familiar with the area and being constricted by water ,, At least they are not charging $100's per vehicle, unlike some people in MI ,,,,

If I remember correctly they restrict movement TO the parking area during the Blue Angels but if you're there when they start you're okay. They made several announcements during the show about this restriction in the past.RyanS wrote: ↑Thu Aug 04, 2022 12:07 amGiven that the official parking is in line with the crowd area but outside the corner marker, I can see the FAA weighing in to keep crowds down in that area.dzirzow wrote: ↑Wed Aug 03, 2022 11:57 pm My hometown show. I guess teaching me something new. Anyone tell me what the new FAR is to prevent you from watching the show from your car in the paid parking?

That said, I have definitely watched the Blues from the car in order to get a jump on traffic and no one cared.

Definitely a mixed bag of a practice day. The good was REALLY GOOD. First, the pier was actually open the entire day, which was an awesome surprise. Despite the TFR starting at 10 there was nothing in the air the first 1.5+ hours. Once things started close to 12 it was a pretty action packed hour and a half.
The Viper demo jet breaking before it really even started it's demo was a big disappointment. Luckily the Bayou F-15's stopped by next and completely stole the show. I'd say they did close to 10 passes with a large portion of it just beating up the pattern with awesome low transitions. Anyone on the pier got some passes they won't forget for some time. I hope someone got some quality video to post.
Blues takeoffs from the pier were equally awesome and thunderous. My ears are still ringing from today. They actually flew a 7 ship with #7 orbiting around both the diamond and solos at times. I assume it was a photo flight. This ultimately became a 6 ship with the number 6 jet breaking about 2/3rds through the routine with #7 still orbiting the formations.
Statics were light with the majority arriving Thursday/early Friday and then the wind favoring 24 for most of the arrival window. All in all it was a pretty good day on the lake and the 15's and the Blues alone made it worth the trip.

Went on Saturday and thought overall it was really good show. The Bayou F-15s were the highlight for me, probably one of my YTD airshow highlights with the multiple missed approach / low passes right down the show line. The pass from the Cali' F-15 was a nice bonus, and the Blues were great as well.
Working through my photos, here's a few:

A few photos of the surprise Vintage Wings "Beach City Baby" C-53 passes. It was a great sight to see her in the sky after a few year restoration effort by the Vintage Wings team!
