I actually don't think Fat Albert performed in 1994 either. We have a lot of home video from that (and every other) show and I'm pretty sure that we don't have any footage of any performance and I don't recall it flying either. In fact, as far as my memory serves, and photo/video evidence from over the years, I don't think Fat Albert has EVER performed at Abbotsford. I could very well be incorrect and if so I'd love to see photos but that's my feeling...I certainly don't recall ever seeing a performance to as far back as the early 80s.AirshowHawk wrote: ↑Wed Dec 20, 2017 1:44 amI think you are right and it’s almost hard to believe. 1994 would be the last year we saw Fat Albert at Abbotsford. If memory serves me correct, in 2003 Fat Albert had to make an emergency landing enroute to Abbotsford from Seattle because of some sort of technical problem and didn’t fly in the show.

1994 didn’t have a demo but I do believe Fat Albert was present. Wasn’t this the year the Blues made their first appearance at Abbotsford in the F/A-18s? I know at the ‘86 there was simply no time to schedule a Fat Albert performance as that year was obviously stacked with performers. I might have to do some digging into some photo galleries in my spare time.
It’s not Fat Albert but here’s a shot of a RCAF CC-130 performing a JATO take off at the 1970 show that I found online. Too bad they ran out of JATO bottles for the Fat Albert performances.

Fat Albert travels everywhere the Blues go because it's their support aircraft. The first year the Blues were in Abby in F-18's was 1988. I also don't believe Fat Albert has ever performed at Abby. I also think that 1988 may have been the year that the C-130 the Blues used for support was an overall grey paint scheme.AirshowHawk wrote: ↑Wed Dec 20, 2017 7:22 pm 1994 didn’t have a demo but I do believe Fat Albert was present. Yes I am well aware that Fat Albert is a support aircraft. I’ve actually had a friend from Washington that was a Marine and a crew member on Fat Albert in 2007. To clarify I was trying to say that the actual painted Fat Albert aircraft hasn’t made an appearance at Abbotsford in a long time. As you mentioned I recall one year we had the unpainted aircraft and in 2003 Fat Albert was not present due to mechanical issues.cf18hornet wrote: ↑Wed Dec 20, 2017 8:22 pmFat Albert travels everywhere the Blues go because it's their support aircraft. You guys are right, it is confirmed by two of my closest friends from the airshow that Fat Albert has indeed never performed here. Hopefully we finally get to see her perform in 2018.

So Blue Angel #7 and Blue Angel #8 will be in town tomorrow tomorrow, January 9, for a Facebook live stream at 2:15 PM. It is unconfirmed if they will be bringing their jets with them.

Great footage of the arrival! It feels good to once again see an aircraft with the Blue Angels touch down in Abbotsford.
