One of the best loved airshows at Old Warden is the Shuttleworth Collection’s Military Airshow. The show not only showcases its own military aircraft, but also includes a large cohort of visiting displays. After last year’s ‘Fly Navy’ themed display, 2023 saw a more general spread of aircraft covering a variety of themes and stories. A full image gallery and review can be found HERE.

The Shuttleworth Collection celebrated the summer holidays with its Carnival Airshow at the beginning of August. There was no overriding theme to the flying displays, just a huge amount of colour and fun from a wide variety of different aircraft. For the most part, the weather also played ball – something of an added bonus in a summer which has seen some very unseasonable conditions plague the events industry. ‘Race Day’ brought the Shuttleworth Collection’s flying season to a close on the 1st October. The event celebrated Richard Shuttleworth’s passion for motor and air racing in the pre-war years. It brought together an enticing mix of racing bikes, motor cars and aircraft which are beautifully framed by the autumnal colours breaking out around Old Warden Aerodrome.
