I am assuming that if you walk away from your spot to go somewhere like the bathroom or food you're kind of out of luck in the general section unless you can find a buddy to watch your things
I get thru the gates first thing in the morning, set my chair on the burn line and I’ve never had a problem with someone messing with it. I just check on it throughout the day. Piece of advice, they do move chairs and such to allow planes to pass thru. Kinda hard to explain. But if I were to give out advice, I’d get there early, put your chair out, and put it in a spot that’s in line with the planes that are parked. Don’t put your chair in the middle between the rows of planes, you will see when you get there

RaZZ did answer some questions on a call, and it seems like the F-22 has the Wednesday twilight show!
I'm all in for another round of burnerfest!

RaZZ also said they will not be there monday due to them being in Alaska.

That's fantastic for the twilight show. As for them not being there on Monday, it makes sense. I've seen photos and video of the F-22 and F-35A Demo Teams using other bases' jets for the Alaskan and Hawaiian airshows and having the entire demo team fly commercially to those show sites.

One piece of good news is that my wife is now all-in on Oshkosh this year. We haven't worked out the details on when we'd get there because we'll be at the Millville, NJ airshow the weekend before. The only catch is that we both would still need to log into work via our laptops for at least an hour or two each day.

Is there wifi throughout the AirVenture grounds and/or the campground, or should we be using our phones as hotspots? Our (more like my) concern is that with the sheer number of people there, if we're using our phones as hotspots is that we'd have either slow connections or the connection drops off. I understand the EAA website says one thing but I'm looking for a more real-world experience.

The last few years my Verizon cell phone has become essentially unusable after about 10 or 11am as people show up. A friend with ATT has slightly better performance.

EAA does have wifi but it has always been just as bad for me

That's a little reassuring since we'd both be logging in during the morning hours. We both have AT&T for our phones and even that struggles with large crowds in small areas - and when SJ comes home.

Any Chance the F-22 or even the F-16 may dump flares? Has that ever happened at EAA?

No chance. The criteria for using flares at airshows at least for the USAF; it must be at a location that normally handles flares (i.e. military base) or the show is over water.

An MC-130 did a flare dump in 2021, but they did it out over the lake during the night show.

I, 100% agree with this statement. The phone becomes a camera at 10am until I get back to my campground later at night..

I also gave up on staying at the EAA campground. It’s nice and I don’t have bad things to say, but it’s just not my thing anymore. I found a family campground that’s a few miles away. Cleaner, quieter, less crowded, and I feel better about my stuff being safe . My last few times at Camp Scholler I’ve had people go thru my tent during the day.
