I don’t know about any of you but it looks like the Thunderbirds are coming to the homecoming.

Hi all, debating whether to finally make a trip across the pond to finally see the Blue Angels and would love to hear from anyone who’s been to this show previously.
As well I wouldn’t be hiring a car so would need to able to access the base from Pensacola itself and wondered if anyone had done it without a car before and whether there are any shuttle buses in and out of the show.
Lastly I’ve read that the museum isn’t open for non US nationals without being escorted by US national and wondered whether anyone has been and can confirm that’s true.
Any information regarding the show is massively appreciated.
Thanks
Joe

This was on the radar for 2025 but adding the Thunderbirds (and HFS to the rest of the lineup!) just might make me reconsider.

2011 was my last time at NAS Pensacola. Perhaps it's time to revisit. Do they still do the twilight show on Friday night or is that a thing of the past?

I'm not finding anything showing the Thunderbirds as part of this show. They're in Ft. Worth that weekend according to their schedule. Nothing on the airshow site about it.

It appears that the rumor started because some social media pundit at NAS ran a poorly chosen photo from the COVID lockdown flyovers that the Blues and Tbirds did together, and there's no actual wording that the Thunderbirds are going to be there. Like I said, they are in Ft. Worth that weekend.

The base made an official announcement on social media this morning about the Thunderbirds joining the Blue Angels.

I'm already looking at travel plans for my wife and I.

No mention of them doing their own demo, just says "...joining..." so is it some 12-ship passes or what?

So there's been a few joint shows since the Blue Angels switched to the Rhino. I've only been to one (Dover). For argument's sake, I'll also include when they were both at Andrews in 2019 since I was there for that one.

At Andrews in 2019, had it not rained on Sunday the two teams would have rotated who would have flown at noonish and who would have flown at 3 pm.

I can't vouch for the 2021 show(s). I think the teams flew in separate slots.

At Dover AFB two years ago, the Blue Angels flew first (around noon) and the Thunderbirds flew at 3 pm both days.

Last year at Point Mugu, it looks like the Thunderbirds flew first and the Blue Angels closed out each days' shows.

I would imagine at NAS Pensacola the Thunderbirds would fly at noon and the Blue Angels close things out. The two times I was in Pensacola I recall the Blue Angels flying at 2 pm instead of 3 pm.

So... we get a joint show by both teams (they probably won't do a super delta... notice I made no mention of it above?) and the final chance to hear "mother-in-law" and "bag of hammers" jokes...
