While we wait to hear this years official confirmations I figured it'd be interesting to share an old newspaper article in the August 3, 1977 edition of what we now know as the Abbotsford News. The RCAF was looking for a replacement for Canada's new front-line jet and the options were the F-14, F-15, F-16 and the Panavia Tornado. While the effort was made to bring all potential aircraft for the show in 1977 only the F-14 Tomcat showed up and it marked its first public appearance in Abbotsford and from what I believe the first public airshow appearance in all of Canada. The F-15, F-16 and Tornado crews would still be at the show that year with the F-15, F-16's having mock up cockpits and the Tornado crew having a display as well in one of the hangers. A few years later the CF-18 would become our frontline fighter.

Tentative schedules for this year's show has the Snowbirds performing at 6 PM on Friday and at 2 PM on Saturday and Sunday. The F-22 Raptor Demo Team's timeslots are 7:30 PM on Friday and 3 PM on Saturday and Sunday. And finally, the CF-18 Demo Team's timeslots are 8:30 PM on Friday and 4 PM on Saturday and Sunday.

F-16's from Colorado added to the flying and static display. It would appear that they will perform a similar intercept demo to the F-15C from last year. Hope they aren't afraid to use the afterburner!

Awesome. Gotta have a Viper flying on its 50th anniversary. Guess we can hope CO ANG sends their commemorative jet for display.
Just watched the CF-18 at Selfridge, can confidently say that was the best demo I've seen from them in years!

The vinyl has been removed from the flag jet.

Just checking ICAS calendar and Abbotsford now lists
Stewart & Averille Dawson.
Both of whom fly various warbirds, but they have very little info online about any airshow routines they fly either seperate or together.
Stewart has test flown basically every warbird imaginable, including Mosquitos.... interesting.
They could be flying one of Ericsson's warbirds?
Who knows, but it's the RCAF 100th and there are quite few ex RCAF warbirds nearby in Canada and the US

Interesting catch. I know a few years ago he was flying the Tigercat at airshows so it’s definitely possible that he may be part of the warbird contingent. Will see if I can dig into this further.Bingofuel wrote: ↑Wed Jun 12, 2024 12:58 am Just checking ICAS calendar and Abbotsford now lists

I see he flies/has flown for Lewis Air Legends. Not sure if he flies jet aircraft, but Lewis has a CF-5 on their roster....would be an appropriate RCAF 100th addition!Bingofuel wrote: ↑Wed Jun 12, 2024 12:58 am Just checking ICAS calendar and Abbotsford now lists
