A bunch of us just booked flights to Florida next weekend to see the Thunderbirds here and the Blue Angels in Vero Beach. This should be a good teaser for later this year when we get both jet teams in our backyards. Compared to most of you it seems like this forum is full of seasoned airshow veterans. I understand and knew from the start Ft. Lauderdale is a beach airshow, but please explain "Gates open at 9am" when this is a public beach and I've been known to be on beaches at sunrise, airshow or no airshow.

The gates are for the ticketed areas of the air show but apart from that the beach is always open. Anything south of these areas are free viewing areas

Well, it was an odyssey yesterday with the weather at Randolph delaying their arrival but I got Thunderbirds 7 and 8 flying in first then the Delta showed up 2 1/2 hours later to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

Looks like heavy rain and thunderstorms all weekend

Was hoping to get the West Coast Rhino Demo hi-vis bird and the F-35Cs but the weather had other plans. But I was able to get the FANG F-15s, MV-22s and A-10 Demo Team. Also saw the A-1 Skyraider that will take part in the Navy Legacy Flight even though it was far away.

The TBirds were doing individual practices when I got there. First the solos then the diamond. They performed the High Bomb Burst but not during the entire practice routine.
