Dan Gagnon wrote: Thu Apr 26, 2018 7:46 pm According to the Great Lakes International Airshow facebook page, they will be making a "whack" of aircraft announcements soon. It will be interesting what they announce, as not much has been released by the show (Only Snowbirds and CF-18 demo), and also to what Bretten has added as well.

A nice Military presence both Canadian and US would be awesome, I don't expect it however. Look forward to more information to be released!

While I didn't attend the 2016 show, I do know they did have a few RCAF assets flying (CC-130, CH-146 demos). I think they will have an easier time getting RCAF assets then anything from the US. Not quite sure if they have the connections with the US military branches to pull it off. We shall see!

They used to have a pretty awesome U.S Military presence, F-16's, A-10's, C-130's and I believe a USAF C-17 Demo one year. Hoping this year brings some more noise rather than filler acts. Have no idea what's in budget for them - still awaiting the "Whack" load of announcements lol.

The 2007, 2009, and 2011 shows had different folks in charge of the show back then. They had more connections to the US Military (You may know some of them lol)

I'm sure the new team is trying their hardest to get military jets to the show, however, they are limited with the length of St.Thomas' runway. If they want F-16s etc, they will probably have to reach out to either London airport, or have them fly from their own base.

Most of it, if not all, staged out of CYXU during the weekend, I know for sure the F-16's did. I was too young to remember all it all worked out then. Just learned they have a new board of directors - hopefully they have some pull to bring back the good days!

Yes this used to be a really good show.I remember the C-17. And the F-15's from Barnes the A-10's that did a wheel airfield protection demo from Maryland. The good old days indeed.

Here's some from 2009

Following added:
-Vintage Wings of Canada Spitfire
-Canadian Harvard Association
-Dick Fennell in the MSX-R
-Martin Hiven in the Christen Eagle II

There were some lineup adjustments that I'll post about in a bit once the details get squared away.

That is a little underwhelming for a "whack" of additions. If there isn't anything more than that good luck to them

I'm writing this one off at this point unless there are some intriguing new additions announced soon. I will have to suck it up and go to London to see the Snowbirds and CF-18 I guess!

Funny note, the GLIAS website has a media terms and conditions document that they took directly from RIAT. The title of the page still references the RAF Benefactor's and they forgot to replace one of the RIAT mentions in the document.

And the FB and Twitter links at the bottom of the pages go to defunt GLIAS2016 pages. It's very strange but they just don't seem interested in trying to put on a show or promoting it
