That being said, the shows this year are pretty darn good!

AC is the one show I consistently make it to, and I'm excited for this lineup.
Same here. I typically spend a week in AC leading up to the airshow with close family before/during and some friends tagging along during the airshow days and it's always a blast for all of us. Not having the Thunderbirds anymore - if AC stays midweek and based on info on this site, is the case for next year too - is a huge blow. The Italians being in the area this year and not coming really raises eyebrows. That said, I'm looking forward to seeing the F-35A tear it up over the Boardwalk and of course the Ghost Squadron.

Even without the Thunderbirds, I expect the crowds to be large. Maybe not 400,000+ large but still enough to pack the beach. The Atlantic City Airshow is so well established within the region, having been around since '03, that it shouldn't lose that much of a crowd.

Yeah, the Italians. If you dig deeper through the forums you'll realize the Frecce Tricolori are coming to North America from late June to late August. The team made an announcement a few days ago on social media with their tour schedule, which matched up with all the airshows that made announcements in early December. Atlantic City didn't make the cut. No one knows why since it just makes so much sense to have AC in their tour schedule.

My wife and i are interested in seeing the airshow this august. Are there any hotels with oceanside rooms that are in the viewing area where we could watch the show from a balcony or rooftop ?
My wife is in a wheelchair so it keeps us from watching from ground level in the sun.
Thanks for any advice.

Most of the casinos that are along the Boardwalk (Tropicana, Caesars, Bally's, Resorts, Hard Rock, and Ocean) would claim that they have oceanfront rooms but they aren't exactly ocean view rooms - you've got something else obstructing your view of the ocean. These same casinos' parking garages are also set further back so it makes viewing from the rooftops even more difficult.

You might be able to park yourselves along the Boardwalk fenceline somewhere and be able to watch - near the Tropicana might be the most convenient for you guys. I'm sure you wouldn't be the only ones doing so!

Oh that’s awesome! I wasn’t sure what you were referring to!

I know usually the beach is backlit for shots of the performers. So I may just go to the airport and watch them takeoff and land and taxi on the ramp. There’s a parking garage I can watch from that’s best to KACY I believe if I’m not mistaken right? How bad is the heat haze with a 75-300 or a 150-600 during that time of month?

I hope they find a way to bring back the tented area you could buy tickets for, when they had the food and drinks included. Especially with bringing kids, it was so much easier to go without the need to bring everything for the beach. Could get out of the sun if you needed to, obviously the food and drink was really nice. The last few years without it kinda ruined my ability to go. I would take the train in, since I did not need all the beach stuff.

I've seen people with and without cameras on the upper deck of the parking garage at ACY - heck I've done it a few times myself but not during airshow week - and I've heard the New Jersey State Police routinely patrol the garage and has been known to kick people off if they don't have any airport business to attend to. I think USAF security forces also check out who's up there even though it's not on their land. Maybe that's changed because I've seen many photos on social media taken from up there the last few years. As for the heat haze in August, it can be bad. It doesn't matter if you're using a camera or binoculars.

Last year all the tents were for the major sponsors and partners. I believe one was for media. That might come back this year, but I don't know. I took the train into AC one year for the airshow just for the hell of it and it just wasn't the same as staying in AC for several days.
