The Altus Demonstration Team will not be performing at any airshows this season. The disappointing news was announced on the team’s social media accounts yesterday, in a post that cited ongoing mission requirements as the reason behind the decision.

This unique US Air Force team combines a Boeing C-17 Globemaster III and KC-135 Stratotanker into a joint performance. The team draws its name from Altus AFB in Oklahoma, where the members are based as part of Air Education and training Command’s (AETC) 97th Air Mobility Wing. Their regular role is to train new pilots in the aircraft; an important mission which obviously takes precedence over airshow performances.

The team has performed at airshows in the past, but they were set for a breakout year in 2020 with new official social media accounts that teased a full schedule. Team members made clear that the accounts will not be shut down and that continued fan support will help them make the case for future performances.

Does anybody know if the Altus Demo Team was slated to appear at SUN ‘n FUN Aerospace Expo this year to do the C-17 Demonstration or is it a different team?
